How can I improve my CTR?

Still have a question, spotted an error, or have a better explanation or a source we should cite?

If your click-through rate is lower than you'd like, the most common culprit isn't your copy. It's your structure.

Reduce the number of links. Emails with one clear call to action consistently outperform emails with 5+ links. Every additional link you add splits attention and reduces the chance any single link gets clicked. If you've got a main goal for the email, make it obvious and make everything else secondary.

Write link text that earns the click. "Click here" and "Learn more" are invisible. "See the full breakdown" or "grab the template" give people an actual reason to tap. The link text should tell the reader exactly what they're getting, not just prompt them to do a thing.

Segment before you send. An email to subscribers who opened your last 5 campaigns will always outperform one going to your full list including everyone who hasn't engaged in months. Segmentation isn't a fancy-tool problem, it's not sending everyone the same message.

Check mobile rendering. If links are hard to tap on a phone or stacked too close together, you're losing clicks for a technical reason, not a content one.

A/B test before you scale. Send to 10-20% of your list, see which version gets more clicks, then send the winner to everyone else. Even small lifts compound over time.

Also worth checking: are your emails actually landing in the inbox? Authentication and list hygiene affect deliverability, which affects how many people even see your email to click it.
