How to provide credible evidence when asking for help?

You're about to reach out to your ESP or a deliverability consultant. Showing up with random metrics won't cut it. Here's what actually proves your sending reputation is solid (or where the problem sits).
Postmaster data tells the story. Take screenshots of your authentication pass rates, bounce trends, and spam complaint percentages from Google Postmaster Tools or the Microsoft SNDS dashboard. These are the official scorecards ISPs check. Include a three-month view so you can show trajectory. Are you improving or sliding backward?
Your sending practices matter just as much as metrics. Document your opt-in process. Write down how you acquire addresses (signup forms, purchased lists, imports, etc.). Show your unsubscribe and complaint handling procedures. Explain how often you clean your list and what engagement thresholds trigger a sunset. This proves you're not just shipping to dead addresses.
Technical validation comes next. Run your domain through SPF, DKIM, and DMARC validators. Screenshot the results showing they all pass. If you're nursing a reputation problem, consultants will ask "did you at least set up authentication?" Getting this right off the bat saves everyone time.
Show before and after if you've already started fixing things. What specific changes did you make? When? What improved? (Of course, easier said than done when you're in crisis mode.) Before-and-after metrics build credibility way more than excuses.
Your next step: compile these into a simple one-pager. Three months of postmaster screenshots, your documented process, passing authentication checks, and any improvements you've already made. When you email your ESP or call a consultant, they'll see you came prepared.
