BIMI

BIMI Checker

Enter a domain. We read its BIMI record, check the logo and certificate it links to, and look at the DMARC policy BIMI depends on, so you can see what is stopping your logo from showing.

New to BIMI? Read What is BIMI in the Email Almanac.

We read the record at default._bimi on your domain, your DMARC policy, and the files the record links to.

How this tool works

What the checker is actually doing

  1. 1

    It checks DMARC first

BIMI only works with DMARC at p=quarantine or p=reject. At p=none a spoofed message could carry your logo, so no logo can show until DMARC moves up. We still check the record and the files, so you see everything at once.

  2. 2

    It reads the record

A BIMI record is a TXT record at default._bimi.yourdomain.com. It starts with v=BIMI1, its l= tag points to the logo, and its a= tag points to the certificate if you have one.

  3. 3

    It opens the files

It fetches the logo over HTTPS and checks for the common SVG Tiny PS faults, such as a missing profile, scripts and external links. If there is a certificate, it checks the file is reachable, names your domain and has not expired. We do not check who issued it, and each mailbox provider decides for itself whether to show your logo.

What a logo in the inbox depends on, in order

DMARC

Record
A TXT record at default._bimi on your domain.
Logo
SVG Tiny PS, hosted over HTTPS.
Certificate
A mark certificate (a VMC or CMC), required by Gmail.

When to use it

Reach for it in these moments

  • Your logo is not showing

It walks the common errors, from a DMARC policy that is too weak to a logo exported as standard SVG, and tells you which one you have.

  • You just published a BIMI record

It confirms the record is at the right address and the files it points to can be fetched.

  • You are deciding whether BIMI is worth it

See how far off you are. If DMARC is still at p=none, that comes first, and it is a move to make in steps so you do not block your own mail.

  • You want to know what BIMI will not do

BIMI is a display feature. Spam filters do not read the record, so it changes which logo people see. It is not a way to reach the inbox.
