What is Abusix Mail Intelligence?
Still have a question, spotted an error, or have a better explanation or a source we should cite?
If you've been running blocklist checks and see a listing from "abusix.zone". That's Abusix Mail Intelligence, and it's worth taking seriously.
Abusix Mail Intelligence is a commercial blocklist service that aggregates threat data from multiple sources to identify malicious IPs and domains. Unlike some older blocklists that rely primarily on spam trap hits, Abusix pulls from a broader range of signals including abuse reports and behavioral patterns. Their combined zone (combined.mail.abusix.zone) is the one most commonly queried by mail servers checking against their service.
Their main blocklist zones:
combined.mail.abusix.zone. The catch-all list, queried most often.
spam.mail.abusix.zone. IP-based spam source list.
exploit.mail.abusix.zone. IPs associated with malware and exploit activity.
dbl.mail.abusix.zone. Domain-based list for malicious or spam domains.
Impact level: medium, and growing. Abusix has seen increasing adoption among enterprise mail gateways and hosting providers over the past few years. They're not in the same tier as Spamhaus in terms of breadth, but they're not a fringe list you can ignore either.
If you think you're listed, check first, then contact Abusix directly for delisting. Their process is similar to other commercial blocklist services. You can check your IP and domain against Abusix (plus dozens of other blocklists) with our free blocklist checker.
